With Kakeibo, an Excel household budgeting tool, you can check your entered income and expenditure data in tally tables and summaries. It allows you to view the tabulated data as graphs, and you can compare annual trends for different items. You can also compare trends for one income or expense item in other years.
This article shows you how to view the tally tables, the summaries, analysis with graphs, and the monthly budget management.

1. Automatic tally of income and expenses
The detailed data that you enter is totaled by item and can be checked in monthly, annual, and 10-year tables.
1-1. Total monthly income and expenses
Click on Monthly Total in the main menu or tab. The detailed data that you enter will be automatically calculated and you can check the total income and expenses for a month. To see the total table for other months, select the relevant month from the drop-down list.
1-2. Total annual income and expenses
Click on Annual Total in the main menu or tab. The detailed data that you enter will be automatically calculated and you can view the annual total table of income and expenses. You can also view the aggregated data in graphs.
1-3. Total 10-year income and expenses.
Click on 10Year Total from the main menu or tab to display the sheet below. You can see how each item has changed over the past 10 years, and you can also view the aggregated data in the graph.
2. Income and Expense Summary
The data you enter will be automatically aggregated on a monthly and yearly basis, and you can view your income, expenses, special expenditure, and balances in summary tables and graphs. It has two types of income and expenditure summaries: Annual summary and 10-year summary.
Income, expenses, and special expenditure are displayed as bar graphs, and balances as line graphs. It helps you have a grip on your household.
2-1. The annual summary
Click on Annual Summary in the main menu or tab. You can see your income, expenses, special expenditure, and balances for the year in a table and graph.
2-2. The 10-year summary
Click on 10Year Summary in the main menu or tab. In this sheet, you can see your income, expenses, special expenditure, and balances for the past 10 years up to the current year in a table and graph. It helps you understand your long-term financial situation easily.
3. Household Analysis with Graphs
You can also view the aggregated data in graphs, which helps you to see how the data is trending throughout the year. You can check the changes over the year with the two types of graphs.
3-1. View changes in the graph with up to four items
You can see the trends of up to four income or expense items in bar and line graphs. It is useful for understanding how each item is changing. The steps to display the graph are as follows.
1 Click on Annual Total or 10Year Total in the main menu or tab.
2 Enter [ Yes ] in the Graph column of the tally table. You can select up to four items.
3 Click the GRAPH button.
4 The trends of the selected items will be displayed in graphs.
3-2. Compare the annual trends with other years
You can compare the trend of one income or expense item in up to four different years. The steps to display the graph are as follows.
1 Click on Annual Total in the main menu or tab.
2 Enter [ Yes ] in the Graph column of the tally table. You can only select one item.
3 Click the COMPARE button.
4 The table and graph will be displayed.
5 Enter a year that you want to compare.
6 The annual transition for the year you entered will be displayed.
You can clear all the data entered in the graph column by clicking on the eraser icon displayed in the upper right corner of the tally table.
4. Budget management
You can manage your spending budget on a monthly basis. The Monthly Total sheet provides you with a detailed side-by-side comparison of your projected monthly budget vs. your actual expenses. It provides you with a quick and easy way to identify where you may be overspending.

The tally tables are based on the year entered in the menu screen. By changing the base year on the menu screen, you can view the tally tables for that year.
